It is a shame that a few cruisers/liveaboards in Boot Key Harbor have ruined the opportunity for the rest of the boaters to be able to take the Smorgasboat water taxi to the Publix area and back. Apparently, dinghies have been illegally tying up to the slip designated for the Smorgasboat ONLY. After years of effort by Smorgasboat owner Chris Boyle to secure a slip for the water taxi to take boaters to and from Publix and nearby shopping and then pleas to dinghies NOT to tie there, illegally tied dinghes have forced the marina owner of the slip to no longer allow ANYONE to use the dock for access to shopping. Insurance issues on the part of the marina would not allow any boat but Smorgasboat to use the slip. Thank you for your efforts, Chris, on behalf of all of us here in the harbor.
