And according to the FWC; "Live-aboard boaters are required to dump waste in port at a pumping station -- or use a mobile pump-out service -- and not discharge it overboard. Dube said many boaters do just that. A valve on the boat's toilet is supposed to remain closed and locked at all times while in state and federal waters. "
Lt. Dube is quoted as saying;
"I'd say nine out of 10 boats have that valve open when we board," Dube said. Or boaters will close it before officials board, he said. Dube said officers can tell by flushing the system whether the valve was recently closed."
Now either the FWC is profiling given vessels or they are LYING. 9 out of 10? So according to FWC only 10 percent are following the rules?
That is just plain BS, as I have been a liveaboard in Marathon and Key Largo and what the FWC is quoted as saying IS NOT TRUE.
We, as liveaboard boaters follow the rules!!!
Sometimes we miss the anchor light but not the head. JUST ASK THE PUMPOUT VESSEL!
FWC... you are starting to loose some of the respect you tried to gain over the past years. Don't lie to make headlines, you only piss the boaters off. I had thought you had already learned that lesson.
