ONE MANS OPINION
I moved to Marathon from Fort Lauderdale in 1984. Lived on my boat up on Coco Plum and spent many days hanging out with the RC Club at the end of the road. When the subject of 'houses being built' in that vicinity came up, everyone would laugh out loud. "Never happen,no way. The land is too low. It's a part of the Keys that will NEVER change.".....Well, all these years later..
I remember the same thing being said about Boot Key. An island that will NEVER be exploited by developers. Just ain't enough money in the world to make that happen. Well, here we go again. Another beautiful chunk of Paradise will soon be taken and developed for sale to those fortunate enough to have a few million to invest. THEN, the old bridge will become new, a new sub-station to accomodate the island and probably a new name on the Gated entrance; 'Boot Key Estates', 'Boot Key Island Estates','Bonefish West Towers,etc.,along with the 'NO TRESPASSING' and 'MEMBERS ONLY' signs to go along with the rest......Makes me wonder what's next. Hey,look out Pigeon Key. Apparantly money can buy ANYTHING.
