For the many cruisers who come through and stop at Marathon, A long time fixture has passed, Captain Karen.
Karen Smith, 55, died in Sarasota Oct. 27, 2009.
Her partner Doug (who worked at waste marine for many years), and her were fixtures at the many Happy Hours around Marathon.

She will be missed wherever her laugh was heard.
Notice for a service will be posted in the Keynoter in the coming weeks.
