I guess it depends on how much adventure you like :-) . Plenty of people have crossed in 25' open powerboats, but you have to choose your weather VERY carefully, and obviously 2 engines & redundant systems are much better than one. The Bahamas sponsors a group crossing once or twice a year (can't remember what they call it), where a lead boat takes a group of boaters over. Obviously they try to group them in classes for speed. Check the Bahamas website and see if you can find something about it. that would be a good way to hedge your bets in case something happened on your way over. You didn't say how much experience you have on the water. Even with the short trip to bimini make sure you have extra parts, backups, highest grade flares & emergency equipment, and redundant communications. - and most importantly choose your weather window WELL.
