Hey girls all is not lost, guys don't always do the smartest thing in the world especially when it comes to your feelings I should know I am one. Anyway as for the apartment scene that simply a one night stand that was meaningless and so was she for that matter. If he is talking to you he is still interested so be patent he will come back to you. One or two night stands have no emotional connection and fizzle quickly like about one hour later he thinks that was a mistake.
Now for the confrontation be very careful here he will be embarassed that you saw him and may get defensive don't fall into a augurment silence is best here let him explain it to you do put words in his mouth that can get you hurt and make him say something he didn't mean. Call him he will answer and talk to get the conversation started with a upbeat subject something funny that happened recently that will put him a ease and open up the communication a bit. If you don't feel the right moment to bring up the other girl then wait till the next time you talk maybe in person. Don't be real cold try to understand his feelings they are still there for you. Becareful about past mistakes that just injures the relationship more. Guys tipically will go back to a solid relationship as we quickly find out that is were you heart is so don't give up keep the lines open who knows you maybe his wife someday you have a strong relationship to last that long.
