Because he still cares.
Men can do a lot of things like request time, send mixed signals, drag their feet, waffle back and forth ...all because they still have a heart and feeling too .
Your guy , too , is probably going thru a lot of confusion and pain. That does not mean you should have to allow his things remain with you, as a reminder.
So, give him a deadline to pick up all his stuff.... and if he does respect your request to pick up by then...well ....then you know what to do next.
