Posted by Lisa on January 22, 2007, 5:23 pm 1/21/07 - Our people with the Lions are telling us that while everyone's quick to put Brady Quinn in at the #2 spot, the team really likes both Arkansas defensive end Jamaal Anderson and Wisconsin offensive tackle Joe Thomas. 1/20/07 - When we eventually did veer back to the 2007 defensive end class, we learned that right now there's a three way race for the #1 defensive end spot with Jamaal Anderson (Arkansas) and Gaines Adams (Clemson) the leaders, with Charles Johnson (Georgia) still in the race. What I'm thinking: I think that with the depth at DE this year that if they cannot trade down like they have been trying to do, they'll end up picking Joe Thomas because there aren't really any other left tackles near his value in this draft. Move over Backus, it's time for a real blocker. I love Charles Johnson and I thought I was the only one who would put him in the same sentence as Anderson and Adams. Combine weigh in could be key for these three guys, much less the combine itself...which Adams and Anderson likely won't participate in. ................................ Monday, January 22, 2007 Colletto, who was the offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2005, spent last season as the offensive line coach and assistant head coach at UCLA. Colletto, who has more than 30 years of experience at both the college and NFL level, was with the Baltimore Ravens during their Super Bowl year of 2003. Colletto was also a former head coach at Purdue from 1991 through 1996. ................................. What I'm Thinking: All the Notre Dames and Oakland Raider are laughing their butts off. The guy is mid-sixties and is really a step down from Larry Beightol. This is the guy reputed to have ruined Robert Gallery for Oakland. He worked Martz eons ago at I think the college level, but I'm hoping this is just a bad dream. He's almost as bad as Carl Mauck whom I'm sure you're aware I despised.

Lions close to hiring offensive line coach?
The Lions could be close to hiring a new offensive line coach and Jim Colletto's name is at the top of the list.
