The news seems pretty upbeat about his return in time for the preseason these days. The last time I saw Duckett play for Atlanta, he looked like a very soft runner in short yardage situations. Early on in his career he hit the line with power and speed, but later on he was less aggressive, IMHO. He didn't play much at all at his last stop. I am not sure how much he will help the Lions. Bell is talented and looks like a real home run threat that can break a long one any time he touches the ball. That will be exciting to see. Fumbling may be his only glaring weakness. Jones could be in for a tough fight if Bell picks up the offense and gets motivated to show Denver they made a mistake in letting him go. He was a solid pickup for the Lions. If the OL is improved as it appears to be to me, these three are good enough to run the ball effectively. Will Marinelli rein in Martz and insist on a better pass/run ratio this year? That would even help the passing game's effectiveness, as Kitna would have more time to unload the longer passes. I still feel the defense will determine where our Lions finish, however. That defensive line will have to be outstanding in order to get off the field consistently. Otherwise, teams will march down the field slowly and kill the Lions with time of possession and field position. This concerns me most.
