Hondo says that Al Wilson is in conversations with the Lions. When I first heard that the Broncos were going to let Wilson go, I thought he might be an excellent possibility for the Lions. But like so many free agent moves that I've thought would be good, it never happened. Of course, now we know why...the neck injury.
But Wilson was an excellent player and the Bronco's linebacking crew were BAD without him, and like Hondo says, "Wilson was the heart and soul of the Broncos locker room and possesses the Marinelli attitude and work ethic. In 1996 he had 102 tackles and was the defensive captain. He has been cleared to return to football medically."
Now, the health issues scare me, particularly because it was a neck injury. Couple that with the Lion's past history with injuries and neck injuries in particular, and I've got some reservations.
