With the recent signing of DL Darby and today's deal with CB Kelly to go with earlier signings this year and last, it appears that the Lions could go in for a name change. The title above might be a good start for the new team name. : )
Actually, this offseason appears focused on fixing the defense, a very important part of any team that wants to contend. Is someone in the Lions hierarchy starting to get it? Although I believe the team still needs both a MLB and DE to be solid, it is a bit encouraging to see the moves they have made thus far in free agency along with the Rogers trade.
If they actually have a decent overall draft this time, I am going to think Millen and Co. might just be starting to understand how to build a winning football team. OL, MLB, and DE should be the draft goals, IMHO. A defensive coordinator with some good old aggressiveness would be next in line for this old fan.
Then again, look who will be the new OC! A return to the Lions staple offensive strategy of decades past will do away with any gleam of hope I am getting from these offseason moves. "Run-Run-Pass-Punt" appears to be making another comeback for when the team has possession of the ball. (Sigh)
Please forgive me for once again getting excited briefly during another undefeated offseason! Now... just where did I put that old "kick me" sign?
