I'm torn because I love Mendenhall. And Jonathan Stewart is a physical freak...and showed a lot of toughness by not only playing but impressing through a painful turf toe injury. Toughness isn't something the Lions have seen much of with their offensive players.
However, with the way this draft is set up, if they don't take one of the DEs...Harvey would be optimal, but Groves and Merling aren't that far behind for me...they aren't going to get a guy who can be more than a backup at DE. And they cannot go into this next year relying on Jared DeVries, Dwayne White, Corey Smith and Ikaika Alama-Francis as the guys that make the defense run. Jared is aging and has struggled to be more than average. Dwayne is good when healthy, but isn't an elite pass rusher. Corey is one of my favorites but he's a liability in the run game. IAF is also one of my favorites, but frankly speaking I didn't see enough progress during last year to say that he's the future at the DE position. I could better see him taking over from Cory Redding as a UT.
Watching rumors keep surfacing, of Minnesota trading for Jared Allen is killing me.
