As you probably know, UDFA is first come first serve. The priority UDFA (those who were ranked as 3rd - 6th rounders is about the easiest way to think of it) can command bonus money, and may sometimes take a day or two to think about where they are going to go.) Most players take the first offer given because they aren't going to get another call.
So far the Lions have 4 players whom they have committed bonus money to and 1 player offered a tryout. According to Tom K, the Lions could sign as many as 10 UDFAs before they go over the roster limit. This is disgusting because you could see 10 players for about $5,000 -(for the better guys) 15,000 apiece (which is a pittance to these guys). The scouting department is either incapable of spotting talent beyond the 7th round (which I've got questions about past the 3rd round frankly) or they don't understand how to contact players in a timely manner.
The Lions have depth issues and ignore opportunities to take a look to see if their are any gems. EVERY other team, even those with great depth, invited at least 6 UDFA players to their rookie camp. I sure hope they have some guys who are just mulling their options, but I'm looking over lists by other teams and I don't see much left.
Here's what's left of Scott Wright's list:
DE Tommy Blake, (social anxiety disorder), T.C.U.
ILB Jolonn Dunbar, Boston College
OG Pedro Sosa, Rutgers
OG Robert Felton, Arkansas
WR Maurice Purify, Nebraska
DE/LB Titus Brown, Mississippi St.

..........
From GBN's top 100 list
those above +
