I posted almost three years ago that I would never cheer, support, or waste any more time on the Lions until they won 2 playoff games or Millen was fired. Well, the wicked witch is finally dead!!! Now I can finally get back to supporting the team!!! They still suck, but at least now there's HOPE!!! As painful as it is to say, but props go to WCF for finally waking the hell up and doing the obvious. But his work isn't done; he's still gotta go out and find someone to fill this job. But whoever he hires can't be worse than Millen.
I haven't followed these fools for the past 3 years outside of various players for my fantasy squad, but it was obvious that this team has major holes when it comes to talent. Rod Marinelli has got to be one of the worse coaches in the league; dude talks about consistency and hard work, but you get crap on the field. Dude is in way over his head and its painfully obvious that he's just a position coach. So you have a situation where the coaches are incompetent and so are the players (who really don't care).
The situation will only get worse before it gets better. The team has already mailed it in, so I don't expect much for the rest of the season. However, this is an EXCELLENT time to make a major play for a qualified GM. And there are qualified people out there that would LOVE to have Millen's job. Get that person in here after a thorough search has been done, but preferably before the end of the season. Let this guy have cart blanche to make whatever changes he needs to make. It'll prolly take at least another season before the team can be consistently competitive, but you know what? I can live with it. Millen is FINALLY gone, so we can have some legit hope, not smoke and mirrors!!
Man I haven't been this happy since the Lions beat the crap outta Dallas in the playoffs!!! Now I can proudly say "GO LIONS!" again!! (just not too loud)
