My wife and I are in Texas celebrating Christmas with our kids and grandkids in much warmer weather than any Michigander could reasonably hope for in December! Here, the talk is about the Cowpies and their late season failure once again. Their lamenting brings no relief to this old Loins fan, I can assure you.
I am discouraged to see anyone left on the Loins staff at any level. My only small ray of hope it that Mayhew is the bright young talent some NFLers are saying he is, and that he will make great decisions from the front office. His trade of Roy Williams and the quick firing of Marinelli is slightly encouraging, but keeping Colletto in any capacity almost undoes my waning hopes. If Ford cannot bring himself to clean out the organization from top to bottom after an 0-16 season, I fear he never will.
If the scouting staff is retained, I will lose even this slight sliver of hope. It would take the free agent signing of QB Matt Cassel to give me any again, preceded by or followed by the hiring of a solid and experienced NFL HC. Is there even the slightest chance either of those could occur? My doubt grows minute by minute.
