... but I for one would like to see them draft the best left tackle or DL in the draft and get started on building up the lines. You only get a chance to draft this high so many times, and thus far the Loins have blown their opportunities to get great talent with poor choices throughout the drafts of this decade.
Trading down might get them extra picks, but it is going to take a couple of years to start winning again and be contenders, so I would like them to get the best players available this year. If trading down meant just a couple of places with the opportunity to take great linemen still in play, it would be a good move.
Mayhew will show me a lot with his draft this year. Too many wasted picks have afflicted this team for years, and he needs to be solid throughout to turn this around soon. His coaching choice will speak volumes as well. Will he get a solid HC with experience, or take another chance on someone with no experience that shows promise? I just hope the new guy comes from a winning organization and is very aggressive in his approach to competition during games. At this point in time, I am still discouraged that an experienced GM like Pioli or Reese is not calling the shots.
