I am hearing today that the first pick will be the Georgia QB unless he flops during his private workout coming up soon. One station indicated it was an edict from above that they take him, while another site writes that Schwartz is enamored with him.
If this occurs, I will be more than disappointed. I still hope for DT Raji, LB Curry, or LT Monroe with pick number one. A QB is a wasted pick that will hold the team back from more immediate improvement.
My hope now is that Cutler decides to force a trade in the slim hope that the Loins could make an offer and get him. Otherwise, it is a likely scenario that the team will lose with Culpepper and pressure will mount to throw Stafford in to get himself all screwed up because he isn't ready.
Of course, it could work out and be a superb draft choice. It is just that the ghosts of Joey Harrington and Andre Ware are still taking turns haunting my football dreams. Bleagh!
