When they passed on Maualuga the first thing that passed through my mind was that there was something everybody knew about his personality or chemically, that the Bengals didn't know. Then when they passed on Brinkley, Phillips, Beckwith and Ellerbe in the 4th round (one of whom I thought they were aiming for in the 4th) then I had to believe that they had someone in mind for a free agent pickup.
I still don't understand the DeAndre Levy pick, because I still haven't heard of any other teams that thought that highly of him. It seemed a very Millen-esque type pick and has me very leery of trusting this bunch of evaluators. Maybe I'm wrong, and this guy is the next Ray Lewis. I just think he could have been had later than the third round, by a good ways.
The first day of the draft didn't bother me so much because I understand the value of the picks that they made, even though I differ in that I don't think there is any value in taking a QB in the top 10. 11-20 is my value placement for clipboard holders, who can maybe develop into starters.
Foote has to transition from a 3-4 to a 4-3, but since this brings them even closer to really having a 3-4 defense; I cannot complain. Not sure how they are going to use him on passing downs. But he is the only guy on the roster right now who can start in the middle.
They still need to upgrade the backup RB situation, IMO. Maurice Morris is 29 and was never that great to begin with. To me he is a poor mans Rudi Johnson.
