The Detroit Lions placed safety Daniel Bullocks (knee) on injured reserve after he cleared waivers at today's 4 p.m. deadline.

The Lions had put Bullocks, 26, on the waived/injured list Wednesday.
After no team claimed him, the Lions had a choice to make. They could have reached an injury settlement with him and cut him loose, making him a free agent. Or they could keep him on IR, pay his full salary and retain his rights.
They chose the latter.

After 6 weeks I believe he is eligible to join the team again, right? Not sure how that will work out. I thought Kelvin Pearson was better than I remembered. Stu Schweigert looks reinvigorated. And even LaMarcus Hicks looked marginally better than last year. They signed Calvin Lowry who, if I remember right, was a big hitter. Schwartz knows him, since he was drafted by Tennessee in the 4th round in '06 and waived in '08.
I was poo pooing the Killer about the Lions wanting A. Henry to be a safety, because the CB depth was horrendous. But maybe he was right. Unfortunately, I was right, too. The CB depth is horrendous and they cannot afford to more him over. Keith Smith needs to get healthy so they can have 4 CBs on the roster. Right now they Phillip Buchanon, Anthony Henry and surprisingly Chris Roberson who can play man to man CB. Eric King has decent ability, but if he hasn't learnt to turn his head to the ball by now, I don't think it's going to happen.
