Oops, he can not play in 2009 at all.
Someone got the PUP rules, IR rules, and cut/injured rules all mixed up.
He did clear waivers though and the team IR'd him, so unless they offer/pay him an injury settlement he's on the roster (IR Roster) for the year.
If they don't have a new CBA by next March, he'll be a RFA for the Lions next year. Without a CBA a player is considered a restricted free agent for the first 6 years instead of 4 years.
