If you judged from pre-season the Packers were the best defense I saw and one of the best offenses. Wow. If last year didn't prove it, pre-season means absolutely nothing, does it?
Thanks for the hopefulness. Sometimes as a Lion fan it can be disheartening to see our team play like it did in Lambeau, but that really was the worst offensively that they have looked all season. Like Henry said, this defense is atrocious and it isn't going to get any better this year. They have a few pieces on defense, but without a secondary (other than Delmas) and a d-line (which has been fairly stout against the run, but hasn't been good pass rushers) this is going to be a rough year no matter what Gunther does. I do see some signs of life, though, with the young d-line. One more really good offseason of collecting talent could take the Lions out of the basement of the NFL. They still need a starting LT, CB, CB, S, DE and a couple more decent backups at those positions and I think we might have something.
You guys are closer than our team, obviously. But I hope next season we can both celebrate that the NFC North is competitive again.
