WR Nate Burleson is a Lion after signing a 5 year deal. He is a very good option in the passing game for Stafford. I think he caught more than 60 passes last seson for Seattle.
A DT named Williams has also been signed according to the Freep this morning. Williams played well with the Pack in a 4-3 scheme, but didn't fit the 3-4, so the Lions got him for a 5th round pick from Cleveland. He can rush the passer from the inside, having had 7 sacks two years in a row. Both players are not yet 30 years old.
It appears the Lions may also sign Kyle Vanden Bosch, an All Pro DE from the Titans. Schwartz is at his home and wants to reunite with his former 31 year old star. He is a solid pass rusher who can also play the run well.
The Lions defense could be improved quickly before the draft if the signings are completed, but I hope this does not mean the team will pass on DT Suh, if he is available with the second overall pick. After seeing tape of his play during the past season along with his combine performance, he could very well anchor the middle of the line and cause other teams to have to plan to stop him when playing our Lions. A chance to get a player like him comes along only once in a great while. If the Lions draft him, I am going to get excited about having a vastly improved defensive line for years to come. The Lions would be much tougher!
Mayhew is gaining respect from me, slowly due to my long fed skepticism. Drafting Suh would impress me greatly. Passing on him would instantly erase my growing respect.
