This Lions team seems determined to give me heart tremors galore! Breathing seems just a wee bit harder on Sundays during the fourth quarter. You know what... I like it! 
With the Packers losing their bid for perfection, if they clinch homefield advantage next week, they will likely want to rest key players in week 17 against the Lions. This bodes well for a team like the Lions that may need to win one more game to clinch the wild card spot.
There is no team with less than seven losses in the NFC that is fighting for the final wildcard spot with the Lions. The Lions are in a really good place and very close to clinching. Just how long has it been since we saw a playoff game with our team in the foray? Was it 1998? That guess cannot be too far off.
Mayhew and Co. are certainly building a strong roster. Here's hoping the next draft and free agent period will get Detroit into the title hunt. It feels good after too many decades of defeat.
