My greatgreatgrandfather, John Wirtanen (also Juho Virtanen, Johan Wirtanen, John Hill) left to MI, USA 1905 from Pori, Finland. He was born in May 1866, possibly died in the 1950's in the US. He left two daughters and a wife in Finland, but for unknown reasons never came back. In Michigan he worked in the mines and the woods at least in Crystal Falls, Ishpeming and Negaunee. The last letter from him I have is possible from Mass City, 1914. I'm extremely interested in his movements after 1914. What happened to him, where did he live, what did he do and most of all - did he in the end raise a new family in America? If you can help me at all, please do. All the help will be appriciated!
