Posted by Jerry Dennis on 11/12/2003, 5:35 pm Hazel was born ca 1903 to Charles Erastus Batchelor, wife name is unknown. It is believed that Hazel was born in Michigan, exact area unknown. She had one sister. Her family emigrated to Roland, Pulaski Co, AR ca 1900, as a result of Charles Erastus Batchelor's job. According to my Maternal Aunt, Margaret Wilson (unknown), Charles was in the employ of the railroad at that time in Mayflower, Faulkner Co, AR. According to Aunt Margaret, she attended his funeral "across the river" when she was very young. She did not know the year or what town, funeral home, cemetery, etc.The wife of Charles Erastus Batchelor left him and their daughters in the early 1900's, ran away to Little Rock, AR, obtained a divorce, and remarried. Any knowledge of her given name, maiden name, or married name is unknown at this time. Nothing is known of Hazel's sister. Hazel married young (18) to William Blankenship, had one son, William Blankenship Jr, and then divorced him. She, thereafter, married a recent widower, William Augnet Wilson (my grandfather) and begat Margaret, Issac, Abraham, Edward and Everette (twins), and my mother, Alta. The twins were born in Little Rock in 1938. Soon after, she divorced William Augnet Wilson, who at that time was in his seventies, and remarried again. This time she married a William Pill/Peal/Peel, and resided in Paragould, AR. She left all of her children, except the twins, Edward and Everette, and resided with Mr. Pill/Peal/Peel until her death. Aunt Margaret and my mother, Alta Wilson Dennis, state their mother (Hazel) battled tuberculosis her entire life and succumbed to the illness prior to the age of forty. Hazel's place of burial is unknown. Of her children, only George Issac Wilson, Margaret Wilson (unk), and my mother, Alta Wilson Dennis, are still living. Abraham and two of his children were killed in a freak automobile accident. Edward and Everette died in the early 1990's. One final footnote: Her second husband, William Augnet Wilson, died in September 1941, as a result of accident involving a double headed ax. Their children were separated into different foster homes and did not come upon one another again until late in life. Little is said of Hazel Batchelor/Blankenship/Wilson/Pill. If there are any of her kin remaing, I would be interested in hearing from them or anyone who may be doing genealogy searches on the BATCHELOR name. For over thirty years, I have sought information on Hazel with little or no success. Hopefully, this message will reach the appropriate person to assist me.
