And yes, there are MANY lifelong, day-to-day smokers who routinely and happily smoke 10 cigarettes a day or less, often for many years or decades. This sub-group ("1/2 ppd or less") is almost universally ignored by the media and the health community, which dogmatically clings to their stereotypes about smokers' consumption patterns. Individuals' smoking behavior simply doesn't fit a "one size fits all" category.

Triple: original post stated, "My wife has cut down to about 6 cigarettes a day". Does that answer your main question?
