History: Phil Grayfield was about to become a rising star in the NFL, but, after a series of injuries resulting in a wrecked knee, his football career was brought to an abrupt end. Taking a job as a field reporter for Sports Inside, Phil’s first assignment was to interview a sports collector named Rudy Custer. During the interview, a group of hoods broke into Rudy’s home to steal his collection. Before the hoods left the tied Phil up using a bunch of old film reels, soaked the place in gasoline, and lit it on fire. The mixture of the gas and the strange chemicals on the old film reels created a once-in-a lifetime chemical combination that soaked through Phil’s skin and enhanced his athletic abilities. Escaping from the fire and donning a bullet-proof experimental football uniform from Rudy’s collection, Phil christened himself the Superpro and vowed to fight crime and protect those in danger.
