Joe, here's my opinion for whatever it's worth..I'm a relic hunter so other type hunters in other areas may disagree.... The Sovereign did not work good in my mineralized ground- it also had a iron masking problem that would make it hard to find good targets among iron junk- it needs slow sweep speed to get good depth and not miss targets...The Explorer also needs to be swept slow and the added weight, price, meter, tones, and other features did not find me any more than my Advantage.. The Advantage can be swept fast or slow, does not null out over iron and can pick out good targets closer to nails, does not lose any depth with high disc. settings and the DD coils are very easy to pinpoint with. Once you learn the audio it is very easy to ID Iron even at zero disc. setting. Small iron such as nails can be ignored while digging larger iron relics. The manual ground balance is the easiest to set of any detector I've used and it can handle more mineralization and bad ground. The Advantage is my choice even if you included many other detectors to your list... Dave
