Hi George,
Do you feel your technique of adjusting the GB control on the GS to tell the difference between silver or copper and iron 5 is accurate to depth? If so, then the techniques used by you can be altered using expanded electronics to do the same and give you an instant result without having to twist knobs.
What I have found is the technique appears to be quite accurate but I have not spent that much time on it either.
