Hi Carl,
The new Sharp setting actually boosts the power of the unit and will be of use in milder ground. The ability to turn off the ground balance circuit may add significant depth in low mineral locations. Like clean white sand beaches. I have some low mineral ground near here where I want to try Sharp in combo with GB off.
And yes, the GPX would be a killer beach machine.
I'm actually still digesting the Owner's Manual myself. I had a pre-order in way back so hopefully I'll be one of the first to get these units.
Despite the insanely high price tag interest in this unit is very high. I'm sure high gold prices are helping.
