This is a really big step for Whites - it's the first PI Gold/relic detector from a US maker (I'd characterize the Infinium as a water machine which has other uses). I think the protracted testing in the field was a sign of how big a departure from VLF's this is for Whites. It would not surprise me if they has a "soft launch" of this product - limiting production and sales until they are sure that the TDI can hack it in the hands of users, many of whom will have no experience of PI detectors.
25 units (per this rumor) or even 200 units (per a diffferent rumor) are a lot smaller risk if early production examples do not get a good reception from their new users.
