The advantages of this more open way forward is that you get user feedback before a product is in the market. Take the tone switch, that would not have been incorporated by the conventional route. As the GS5 designer, I would not have realised what a significant feature this is, because I don't go out and hunt in parks or freshwater lakes. Reg did some mods and straight away found a big gold ring and coins a'plenty in a well hunted area. As a result a whole new market area opens up. Tex has persevered with relic hunting, which again is not a market that would have thought it would excel in, designed as it was for nugget hunting. But, the results speak for themselves. Also, the Internet has made it so much easier to exchange information, ideas, and see pictures of what has been found. Exciting times ahead.
