The unit will work very well on coins. The issue is how much iron a person may have to dig in the process of getting the coins. In many locations digging low tones only will get high conductive coins and not so much junk.
Low conductive coins unfortunately will read like a vastly larger number of junk items and so anyone digging low conductors will have to deal with a lot more junk.
So while the unit may do well for hunting silver coins in the US it will be a much tougher issue hunting gold coins in the UK.
