Hi BJ,
If you look at the A.H. patent the frequency indicated is about 53khz. I suspect most of their detectors operated at that frequency including the backpacker. I think I measured my backpacker with as scope and it measured approximately 50Khz, which is very close to the patent info. My scope doesn't give any freq readout, so any measurement is an approximation.
