Equipment for a newbie

Hi everybody, My family have a lot with an interesting history from the last 200 years, and we always have suspected something valuable could be buried on it. In this order we decided to make a serious effort to try to find it. I'm wondering what kind of equipment could be the most appropiate equipment in we are talking of a lot of 40.000 square feets, the possible treasure could be between 3 and 8 meters deep, and is very old, at least more than 100 years.
