Gold Century GC1023. I wonder if it will do as well as my F70 & X-Terra 70? Had to order one as many experienced detectorists say it competes with many at several times the cost, even in areas with bad mineralization.
It gives a high tone for targets above disc level & low tone for those below it (like White's MXT relic mode). Ad says max sens 8" US quarter (air test?).
Many $300 detectors don't air test any better. And it seems some of the detectors with impressive air tests don't do nearly so well in the ground.
I'm just frustrated that hardly any detectors can give a meaningful ID in my soil beyond 4" & I don't want to dig everything.
Would it be impossible for a mfr to make a detector that IDs good deeper than others in bad ground? Or does the ground signal strength overpower each detectors ID abilities at about the same depth? HH, George (MN)
