Anything you can get new, for $80, is probably a toy, and not likely that you would find reviews or recommendations on a forum like this (where techie adults are).
Are you willing to buy used? If so, keep an eye out for a Fisher 1220x. They might come up for that price range of Ebay or Craigslist. They're light-weight, have a pleasant easy-to-use sound, and acutually have a bit of "punch" for the $$
