The old Compass Gold Scanner Pro could be adjusted to knock out whatever size iron you wanted and no amount of disc. affected it's depth on coins or good targets.. The Minelab Advantage works the same way , high disc. settings do not affect depth on good targets. But the Advantage is not a metered or Id detector but it's almost 100% at ID'ing iron if you get used to using it and hunt at zero disc. setting. At zero disc. setting it has a slight built in rejecton of small iron that is easy to recognize. The older Tesoro's with the limited disc. range would also reject small iron at zero setting but they would mask good targets close by. Also the Tesoro's would lose depth with higher disc. settings... For relic hunting I like to dig all iron above nail size while still being able to know the nails are there.
