It did work, though with the drawbacks mentioned in the posts below.
I did use one with some success with my old Spectrum but when I made the mistake of upgrading to the XLT for the extra programme slots/weight saving, it was not as good for some reason though I adapted the required programme to the XLT.
The degree of iron rejection was set by the angle you held the eliminator at behind the coil when setting up.
Main drawback for many was the fact that the detector became so lifty. You really did have to maintain a constant coil height at all times.
