Hello Tom,
I've owned both and currently have two Gold Scanner Pro models, The Coin Scanner Pro I let go several years ago and now wish I'd kept it.
The Coin Scanner Pro has a fixed ground balance, and a notch control. Has a three tone (single, duel or Tri-tone) feature with a meter panel light activated by toggle switch. The user can select either single, duel or tri-tone by toggle switch.
I believe the Coin Scanner Pro is a two filter machine, not a Varifilter as found on the GoldScanner Pro.....Coils are interchangeable with all Scanner Series models which operate at 13.77 kHz and like the GoldScanner Pro does have target I.D. and operates with 8AA batteries with an on board charging feature.
GoldScanner Pro) Is a Varifilter model, and does not have a notch feature nor does it have a meter panel light. However, It does have a 10-turn ground balance feature and an all-metal I.D. prospecting mode, can be operated with auto or a manual set threshold when using the all metal prospecting feature....Plus, Operates with three 9-volt batteries.
Both are good detectors, Can't go wrong with either one of them.
