Well Shucks
Why the singling out of Troy?
I thought that every detector manufacturer used the internet to promote his detector as being the "absolute best". All of that hype of a new detector? Having brand loyalists instead of dealers hype up a new detector? All of that number of frequencies nonsense?
Metal detecting forums are mainly designed to make folks money not to enlighten the public. Having your posts deleted if you are critical of a sponsor's detector- well "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise". It will be a cold day in Hell when Minelab will admit or discuss in one of it's dealer sponsored sites that its' detectors will not really receive all of those dozens of frequencies transmitted.
There is one aspect of the Troy issue that puzzles me. There is a cult of "X-5 haters" in the detecting community. Attacks on the X-5 on other forums have been vicious, nasty and even obscene. There is not a detector in existence that has been trashed as much as the X-5. One would think that Troy was selling LRLs instead of quality metal detectors. I have seen some of the posts on other forums where the posters have complained that their attacks were removed on the Troy forum. Usually an anti- X-5 rant follows. The aim of such posters is not asking "legitimate questions" but in trashing the machine.
Why do these people have all this hate with the X-5? Is it an ego thing?
George
