Is yours the 8500 or 8500B? If it is the 'B',the upper right knob should be marked TONE. If it's marked Volume,you have the older 8500. The 'B' model is more desirable due to the Audio Tonal Identification feature. You could tell the targets conductivity by it's tonal reference in the discriminate mode. A quarter would be a higher pitch then a penny. Nickel would be lower than penny,etc. Nice feature to have.
How's the cosmetics and operating condition? If it's a creampuff and the battery compartment has no battery corrosion or broken battery clips--should hold more of it's value. Your 8500 is a 4-filter unit comparable to a whites 6000 Di Series 3. Just my 2 cents.
