Doesn't perform well around salt as you suspect but that top strip of dry is a goldmine. The XP Goldmaxx another machine that is hopeless on the wet but excellent on the top fringe. I've had dozens of chains and lots of small silver coins that the other detectors just skip over.
I've only got the larger coil sizes for my Nautilus DMC's but will pick up a six inch to see how well that copes.
C-Scope was expected to drop the 1220 XD as the digital 1220R took off but its still carried on selling and the price isn't bad.
