Sorry to hear your V-3 had poor stability, Could it be the Big foot you are using not being the upgraded type? I know the V-3 coils need to be designed for the V-3, The DFX/MXT coils will not work with the Vision/V-3 in tough ground. If the coil is the newer upgraded type then try increasing the SAT speed and play with the filters.
I just sold my Vision, Here in California I was having problems with it handling fresh water black sand using the prospecting mode. Even with an increased SAT speed and filter adjustment the black sand was masking out the smaller/weak signals.....Otherwise the Vision operated fantastic in good ground but in a certain area up near the Ca. gold country at a fresh water lake it couldn't handle the fresh water black sand.
However, My MXT can operate well in these same environment situations when using prospecting mode.
