Chains are a great goal, but ask any jeweler what the most common lost jewelry item is. Ear rings.
And the beach groomers will miss them. As will most detectors.
I've not done much of this, as my local beaches are coldwater and so tend to lack the kind of people who lose the good stuff. But was out again tonight with the GMT on a beach that most consider hunter out and got several dozen non-ferrous items. About half were foil. The rest was a mixed bag of small parts of pull tabs, small lead and copper items, ear ring backings, and ear rings. Nothing of real value, but I'm having fun, honing my nugget hunting skills, and convinced a nice ear ring awaits me.
Nice part in no digging deep holes. And although this beach is full of ferrous stuff I've got my GMT down pat in that regard. All the stuff I'm digging is non-ferrous. I think I'm digging about one target out of three or four.
