That's true Harold,
If one was thinking about getting a Minelab Safari for gold jewelry hunting might as well get a used SE for about the same price, My choice would be an SE model instead of an e-Trac to keep the cost down and both get the same depth.
However, The Sovereign is good on gold too. A bit complicated at first (learning curve) but does well on gold jewelry, And for a used model ($350-$450) it's half the price of a Safari or an SE.
Although Minelabs are good on gold jewelry, They will miss the gold chains and real small gold jewelry.
Or, For about the same price as a used Sovereign get a used MXT or used Treasure Baron and pick up the smaller thin gold jewelry finds the Minelab will miss.
