I have to agree with everything said in this thread. I recently purchased the new Teknetics Omega and was hoping I could get back to the older Teknetics Mark I, yet be more comfortable with the lightweight package. Well... In only 4 hours I found the Omega to be a way more comfortable detector to swing and it did quite well on finding coins in a worked area, but I so miss the resolute visual ID meter and infinite analog audio pitches of the Mark I. But to be more honest, I just can't see as well as I did at arm's length even when I had the Mark I! So any digital display is wasted on someone like me with older eyesight. I'm farsighted and it is impossible to walk around with bi-focal computer/reading glasses. It's bad enough I have to constantly put the glasses on to see coin dates!! So back I go to the analog audio, no meter and a hipmounted control box.
So, if any of you "youngsters" out there would like the new digital display, digital audio and lightweight configuration of the new Teknetics Omega 8000, email me and I'll make you happy with a really good deal! You can profit from my mistake.
