Hi Jim,
I seem to accumulate way too much at times. I become obsessed with something and then before I know it, I am overwhelmed with stuff. It was the same way when I owned and operated Patrick Electronics. I was also collecting and restoring antique radios at the time and when I closed the store, I had several hundred radios of all kinds that I had no room for at home. I had to have an auction to unload most of it. Metal detectors … I’ve had as many as 20-30 at one time, now I am down to six and of those, one gets used 90% of the time.
Certain items in my ‘treasure hunting’ ephemera collection will stay with me as I would never part with them. I too have many author-autographed detecting books that are part of my ‘permanent’ collection, such as your ‘Follow the Dry Washers’ book. Some of my most cherished items are letters from the late Karl von Mueller and ‘Woody’ Woodworth. Being an amateur radio operator, Karl sent me one of his QSL cards. Some of the older publications and newsletters in my collection are really cool to look at and read. Stuff like the National Prospector’s Gazette, the Uncommon Sense newsletters and many of the very early treasure magazines, brochures and catalogs. I hate to part with some of this stuff, but the time has come to do so.
A Blastmaster? Now there’s something I haven’t thought about in a while. I used to love designing and making all of the kind of stuff, but now, I am back into antique radios and ham radio mostly. Perhaps when I retire and have as much free time as you do
I can again build and market some of my detecting products once more.
My best to you Jim.
Joe
