Hi Bob,
Well, I've enjoyed using mine, but I have to admit it is a bit wasted on me.
The main thing I use it for is with my Bigfoot coil to sweep for jewelry. But I use a pretty brain-dead approach. I reject iron, accept from foil on up to just below zinc penny, notch out zinc penny through dimes, and accept everything above dimes. Basically I'm not looking for coins but I'll take the quarters when I can get them.
The Bigfoot does not go all the deep, which if fine as I do not like to plug. I want targets I can pop out with my screwdriver. So I get the hit, then check it fast with my Uniprobe. If the Uniprobe can't hit it, it is deeper than I want, so I move on.
Now, I get some jewelry doing this but of course what I'm really doing is digging a very large pile of aluminum. The V3 did get me quickly to where I'd get that graph and tell myself "oh yeah, that's that pull tab again" but then I'd just dig it up anyway! The way I'm working is so quick and easy so why not?
I could pretty much do what I'm doing with an Ace 250 so unfortunately I can't really answer your question except to say I can see there is great potential with the V3 that I'm not using. I could do a much better job and improve my good find to junk ratio by a significant margin. Certainly if it was coins I was after that would be the case. Unfortunately, a beep-digger like me does not get the real benefit out of having a detector like this. In actuality I am really using the Bigfoot coil. The V3 just happens to be the detector attached to it. I do wish I had got out more than I did this summer. Now I have to wait until May for the snow to go away.
The V3 like most White's machines is a tad heavy but you don't feel it due to the great balance.
