I'd say you were lucky that your wife pushes you out the door to go metal detecting period 
. For that, most of us are probably envious. In my younger days metal detecting after marriage, my wife used to (half) jokingly call herself the "The Metal Detector Widow"! Thankfully she still loves me and puts up with me all these 34 years!
